The natural world is a constant source of wonder and inspiration for me. I’ve travelled all over Australia, from the Tropics of the Northern Territory, where the crocodiles dominate the waterways, to the Southern states with their snowy regions. I’ve seen the gorgeous wildflowers of Western Australia and even gone opal mining at Lightening Ridge in Outback Australia. Through my artwork, I share my interpretations of these stunning landscapes, and the incredible wildlife that dwells there.
All of my paintings are rendered with acrylics – a medium that suits my busy personality. My style is based in realism, though I use it only so far as a fantasy author uses logic. I’m happy to tweak reality when the art calls for it. I prefer my paintings to have some brush strokes showing as part of the character of the artwork.
Photography is another creative pursuit that I thoroughly enjoy. Looking for that fresh perspective that will allow someone to see a familiar thing in a new, unique way is a wonderful challenge. Nature photography is my focus.
I’m a self-taught artist, though I owe much to my informal teachers. My Grandmother painted beautiful artworks in oils, pastels and ink and my Father was a keen hobbyist photographer. And of course, there is all of the incredible artists who have had an impact on my appreciation of art, and have influenced me in one way or another.
I find my bliss when I paint.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
